Overview

Escape the historic streets of Huế for a thrilling day in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The Dark Cave (Hang Tối) is an absolute must-visit for adventure seekers. Spanning roughly 6 kilometers with zero artificial lighting inside, it delivers a raw, immersive caving experience.

Combine a 400-meter zipline ride across the emerald Chay River, cave exploration in complete darkness, a rejuvenating natural mud bath deep inside the cavern, and kayaking back out into the sun. On the way from Huế, our scenic transit route includes historic landmarks across Quảng Trị Province.

Tour Itinerary

06:30 – 07:00: Our professional English-speaking guide and comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will pick you up directly from your hotel in Huế city center. Head north along National Route 1A toward Quảng Trị.

Morning Sightseeing En Route:

• La Vang Holy Land: Explore the national shrine and learn about the historical legends and miracles of this sacred Catholic pilgrimage site.
• Quảng Trị Citadel (nonstop): Pass by the legendary 1824 citadel, renowned worldwide for the fierce 81-day battle of 1972.
• Hiền Lương Bridge & Bến Hải River (pass by, nonstop): View the historic 17th Parallel demarcation line that divided North and South Vietnam for 20 years.

12:00: Arrive in Phong Nha. Enjoy a delicious local lunch at a riverside restaurant.

13:00 – Afternoon Adventure at Chay River & Dark Cave:

• Zipline Thrill: Launch from the observation tower on a 400-meter zipline directly across the sparkling Chay River to the cave entrance.
• Cave Exploration & Mud Bath: Equipped with a headlamp and specialized gear, wade into the pitch-black caverns. Experience the therapeutic mineral mud bath deep inside, followed by a swim in an underground freshwater lake.
• Water Activities: Return via a secondary shorter zipline and enjoy kayaking and water games along the Chay River.

15:30: Board the vehicle and begin the comfortable return journey to Huế.

19:30: Arrive back in Huế. Drop-off at your hotel. End of tour.

Important Tips & What to Bring

• Wear swimwear/bikini: Bikinis or tight swim trunks are required for entering the mud bath inside Dark Cave (loose shorts or thick clothes are not permitted as they retain mud and damage the ecosystem).
• Bring a change of clothes & towel: You will get muddy and wet during the activities.
• Waterproof gear: Bring a waterproof phone pouch or GoPro to take photos during kayaking.
• Height restriction: The main zipline requires a minimum weight/height standard (typically suitable for participants over 1.4m and under 90kg).
